On September 6, 2024, at 7:45 A.M., Harry Flanagan, 75, of Mineral Point, was driving his 2020 Chevy Silverado while towing his cattle trailer west on CTH A in South Lancaster Township. Mr. Flanagan was approaching the intersection with Hwy 129 and failed to stop at the clearly marked stop sign. Flanagan continued west through the intersection and struck a 2024 Nissan Rogue, which was driving south on Hwy 129. The Nissan Rogue was being driven by Tammy Esser, 50, of Fennimore. Mr. Flanagan’s truck struck the driver’s side of the Nissan Rogue. Both vehicles came to rest in the west ditch along Hwy 129.

Emergency crews from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, along with Lancaster Police, Fire, and EMS, responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Flanagan and Esser were out of their vehicles, and passing motorists were assisting them. Once Lancaster EMS arrived, EMTs began to render aid to Flanagan, who was transported to the Grant Regional Health Center with minor injuries. Esser indicated she was shaken up and had minor injuries but refused medical transport. Esser was treated after the crash for minor injuries at Upland Hills Medical Center in Dodgeville. Both parties were wearing their seat belts, and the airbags deployed during the crash.

As a result of the investigation, Mr. Flanagan was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign. Both vehicles were totaled in the crash and were removed from the scene by Bennett’s Towing.
