Investigation Update: The Platteville Police Department is actively investigating the human remains found in a densely wooded area west of Milwaukee Street on Monday, September 2nd. An initial autopsy has been conducted, showing no visible signs of trauma or clues indicating a clear cause of death. Additional tests will be performed to help determine the potential cause of death. Due to the condition of the remains at the time of recovery, it may be impossible to ascertain the cause of death with complete certainty.

At this time, we can confirm that the remains belong to an adult white male. The circumstances surrounding the death, along with the evidence gathered at the site and the location of the remains, suggest that this is an isolated case, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
