A semi versus car crash was reported on Highway 151 in Paris Township at approximately 12:10pm on Saturday, July 25th. Elaine Shanley, 77, of Platteville, was operating her 2006 Buick Lacrosse eastbound on Hill Climb Road when the accident occurred. As he approached the intersection of Highway 151 and Hill Climb Road, Shanley stopped.
In an apparent attempt to turn north onto Highway 151, Shanley attempted to cross the southbound lanes of Highway 151. He entered Highway 151 directly into the path of a southbound semi tractor and trailer operated by Henry Chamberlain, 59, of Fort Atkinson.

Chamberlain attempted to avoid a collision with Shanley’s vehicle by braking and swerving.
The semi tractor’s front collided with Buick’s driver’s side rear door in a T-Bone collision. Both the semi and the Buick came to a halt in the median.

Despite severe damage to the Buick and moderate damage to the semi, both vehicles had to be towed.

In the crash, the semi operator was not injured. Shanley was transported via ambulance to Southwest Health Center in Platteville. Shanley was later transferred to a Madison area Hospital for further treatment of possible serious injuries.

This crash remains under investigation.
