A driver involved in a hit-and-run crash in Grant County has been charged with operating while intoxicated (OWI).

The incident occurred on July 23, 2024, when a white GMC truck struck a mailbox and failed to stop.

The driver, identified as 52-year-old Scott Weary of Tennyson, initially denied his involvement in the crash but was later found with open intoxicants in his vehicle.

After further investigation, Weary was arrested and cited for OWI (1st offense), possession of open intoxicants in a motor vehicle, and hit-and-run to property adjacent to the highway.

It is important to note that individuals arrested or referred for charges are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
