33-year-old Branden Authement has received a 35-year sentence in prison after taking a plea deal.

Authement plead guilty in Iowa District Court to charges of homicide by vehicle-operating while under the influence of meth the causing a serious injury by vehicle and second-degree theft concerning a fatal crash that killed 54-year-old Nancy Meisenburg on December 5, 2021. For those charges, he was sentenced to 35 years in prison.

In a separate incident, Authement in October 2021 got into an argument with his girlfriend, grabbed a hatchet and began swinging it, cutting the mouth of Will Thomas Jr. Authement was sentenced to 15 years.
