Dubuque Felon Faces Federal Charges For Dealing Drugs And Having A Gun

Because of his felony status, he was not allowed to have a gun.

Michael Ashford 42, faces charges in Federal District Court For The Northern District Of Iowa in Cedar Rapids Iowa, with two counts of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and one count each of possession of a firearm during a drug-trafficking crime and possession of a firearm by a felon. All his state charges have been dropped.

Dubuque Police arrested Ashford on January 8th, for threatening a man with a gun who thought he was his Uber ride, The man called the police, who then located Ashton, and got a warrant to search his vehicle. Officers found a loaded gun and marijuana and THC products.

Then a second incident occurred in January, where he took off from police in a vehicle, and was stopped on E. 21st St. and Washington. A foot pursuit occurred and he was arrested around East 24th Street.
Officers found, three bags of cocaine, three bags of crack and in the vehicle ecstasy pills, and $1621 on Ashton.
