A Second amendment rights rally was held in Dubuque, Iowa Sunday.

Sean Schiver Libertarian Candidate running for Iowa House of Representatives District 71 hosted the event Sunday supporting Iowas Freedom Act at 7 Hills Brewery Event Center.
Candidates, of the libertarian, party, President of (ICG) Iowa Gun Rights Coalition, and Trey Vietnam a gun rights activist spoke about the upcoming vote to add the Second Amendment to the Iowas Constitution.

IFC Member and Lobbyist Richard Rogers from Des Moines took to the podium Sunday and illustrated 2nd amendment as it’s written, and Iowas proposed 2nd amendment to Iowas Constitution,
The US Constitution:
The Second Amendment
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
Iowa proposed 2nd amendment:
Article I of the Constitution of the State of Iowa is amended by adding the following new section: Right to keep and bear arms. Sec. 1A. The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The sovereign state of Iowa affirms and recognizes this right to be a fundamental individual right. Any restrictions on this right shall be subject to strict scrutiny.
“Rogers” said that in the recent decision by the Supreme Court ruled that New York law violated the Constitution.
The court said the law unconstitutionally kept people from exercising Second Amendment rights.
Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas wrote, that the New York law violated the Constitution and signaled that other gun regulations. It disconnected from what he called the nation’s “historical tradition of firearm regulation” would face similar scrutiny in the lower federal courts.
Rogers wants people to not know him as a gun guy, but as a liberty guy. Rogers is all about our Constitutional Freedoms.

Tre Vietnam was introduced by Sean Schriver. Tre is a from Cedar Rapids Iowa, and does educational demonstrations on gun rights. Using a sign saying hug a AR 15 owner spoke at the gun rights event at 7 Hills Event Center in Dubuque. Vietnam spoke in favor of adding a Public Measure which would add the right “to keep and bear arms” to Iowa’s States Constitution. Tre has done over 75 of these events across Iowa and it’s been nothing but positive.
Tre brings up a theoretical situation of being in a grocer and a bad guy walks in with a gun, and he is the only one on the store with a gun who can protect you. Tre goes on to say that when it comes down to a person’s life and a bad guy it’s only human nature to want to be protected. It’s our right to protect our families and friends .

All the Libertarian candidates spoke in favor of Measure 1 and liberty that we all have right to protect ourselves, families and friends from the bad guys who have guns, who don’t obey gun laws.
