After a short deliberation, a jury found Mark Fisher 61, guilty of the death of 80-year-old Bernice Williamson.

Williamson was found dead on July 15th, 2021 by a neighbor who was asked by her niece to check in on her and found her rolled up on a carpet at her home on Clark Street. Williamson died of blunt force trauma to the head. Fisher was the last person to see her a live. He was at her home to do some repairs to a faucet.

All evidence in the case pointed in only one direction, to Fisher.

Video evidence from private surveillance and city cameras showed a trail of events.

Pawn shop employees stated fisher brought in jewelry and coins worth 2500 dollars into their shop.

A salvage yard employee saw Fisher in their yard acting strange and left a pair of his shoes, blood droplets were found on those shoes belonging to the victim.

Police issued a search warrant for Fisher’s home and the murder weapon, a pipe with blood on it. A DNA expert from the Iowa DCI forensic lab determined the blood was Williamson. Clothing was checked, and no blood was found.
