
“Fentanyl has quadrupled in Iowa, according to Governor Reynolds, who blames the lack of border security for Iowas and America’s drug problem. “She went on to tell about the over 107,000 deaths from drug overdoses and 71,000 of them as the result of Fentanyl.”
Stephan Bayens, Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety, spoke specifically on the fentanyl presence in Iowa. Bayend stated, that Iowa’s DCI Lab has seen a massive increase in fentanyl pills coming through their lab. So far, this year 70,556 pills have been analyzed this year compared to 17,163 for the whole year of 2021. Fentanyl has 50 to 100 times more potency than morphine.
Susie Scheer of the office of Drug Control Policy is asking Iowans to help protect the public and themselves from fentanyl and the counterfeit pills being laced with it.
