Traffic being blocked on Lowell Street and North Main

Thursday Evening Dubuque Police responded to Klingenberg Terrace for a Bomb call.

A mother told Dubuque Police that her son was out riding his bike yesterday and the boy stopped at Blums Junkyard. While looking around he found what ended up being a mortar and took it home. Latter the mother woke up and found what looked like a mortar in the home and immediately looked it up on the web, found out it was and called the police.

The police requested the Dubuque Fire Department to the 300 block of Klingenberg Terrace, around 5:05 PM last evening and the streets in the area were closed.

The bomb squad was called and the Dubuque Police Department and Dubuque Fire department waited for the State Fire Marshal Bomb Squad to arrive. The Fire Marshals arrived and recovered the live tank mortar round last evening and took it to a safe place for detonation today.

This is the 2nd mortar call this year. In June a mortar was found in a yard while a couple was putting up a fence in their yard in June.
