On 06/18/2022 at 11:53 P.M., the Jo Daviess County Sheriff Office dispatch center received a call via 9-1-1 of a explosion and fire at a residence on East Greenvale Rd, rural Lena, IL. The caller advised dispatch that the explosion was the result of a fuel barrel put on the bonfire.

Upon arrival, Deputies found two individuals severely burned as a result of the explosion. They identified the individuals as Taylor M Musser and Brian D Musser Jr. Ambulances transported Taylor and Brian to a nearby landing zones to be airlifted. Taylor and Brian Musser were both airlifted to U Madison University Hospital for treatment. On 06/24/2022,

Taylor Musser succumbed to her injuries from the explosion and passed away at UW-Madison Hospital. Brian Musser remains in critical condition at UW Madison Hospital.

This incident remains under investigation.
