Vehicle vs. Service Pole/ OWI Capture

On Sunday, January 9, 2022, at 1:38am, Boscobel Police notified the Grant County Sheriff’s Office of an automobile hitting a utility pole in Wisconsin Ave. In the city of Boscobel. The Boscobel officer was processing an OWI arrest and stated he believed the motorist engaged in the collision was the passenger involved in his OWI arrest who was supposed to be waiting for a sober driver to arrive.

Grant County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the collision. The operator, Sara Stowell (40) of Wauzeka, Wisconsin, was attempting to operate the automobile after the OWI arrest of her husband, when she drove up over the curb and collided with the utility pole. Stowell pstated she was not injured. The 2015 Ford Edge was taken away by Bill Doan’s Towing of Fennimore, Wisconsin, due to disabling damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle.

After the investigation, it determined that Stowell was intoxicated, and he arrested for Operating While Drunk 1st offense.

Persons held/or referred to charges by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office are innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. An arrest is only a sign that probable cause exists to bring formal charges. I have withheld the names of victims and witnesses to a crime under §950.04.
