Car vs. Dump Truck Crash

On January 3, 2022, at about 10:36 AM the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a a car vs. dump truck crash at the intersection, Hwy 35/61/81 and Hwy 129. The investigating deputy learned that the occupants of the two vehicles were not injured.

The driver of the the dump truck, Tyler Ernst, 22, of Cuba City, was driving a 2012 Peterbuilt quad-axle dump truck, owned by J&N Stone and was going north on Hwy 35/61/81 approaching Hwy 129. The car, a 1998 Buick Park Avenue, was being driven by Beau Stuhr, 37, of Blue River, going south on Hwy 35/61/81 and was stopped to make a left turn on to Hwy 129, northbound. Stuhr admitted that he did not see the dump truck coming northbound and he turned in the path of the truck. Ernst said that he saw the car turning and he broke and tried to steer to the right, attempting to avoid the collision, but was not able to avoid it. The Buick sustained severe damage to the front end while the damage to the truck appeared minor. The Buick was towed from the scene by Arrow Towing of Lancaster, WI. The Sheriff’s Office was also assisted at the scene by the Lancaster Fire Department.
Stuhr was cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way.
