At 1030 AM, National Weather Service radar showed bursts of light to moderate snow ongoing over much of eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois. These snow showers, along with wind gusts around 30 to 40 MPH, will continue through this evening.
Travel is likely to become difficult at times through the day, especially in bursts of moderate to heavier snow. The snow, combined with the winds, will lead to reduced visibilities around one mile or less. In addition, warm pavement temperatures will lead to roads and sidewalks becoming slippery. Some slushy accumulation is possible over roads that see snow for longer durations.
Use caution if you plan on traveling. Slow down, leave plenty of distance between yourself and the car ahead of you, and allow for extra time to reach your destination.
