Starting on November 2, a solidarity voucher program for John Deere workers will be available at select Fareway store locations. This program is run using funds from the UAWD John Deere GoFundMe fundraiser that has raised over $160,000 from the general public, including funds raised by Bernie Sanders that were split between workers at John Deere and Kellogg’s.

A group of Deere workers, other UAW members, and community supporters have set up this program in the spirit of solidarity, and it is being run independently of the UAW. See FAQs at the end of this document.

Here’s how the program works:

1. Bring your UAW union ID card: Show your UAW union identification card that was issued to you ahead of the contract ratification vote. The cashier will scan the QR code for your unique UAW ID (or manually enter it) and use this to track transactions within the program. No additional personal information from your union card will ever be scanned or shared within an outside party.

. Visit a participating Fareway location: These are currently 8 participating stores. Show the cashier your union card, and let them know you’re participating in the Solidarity Grocery Program for John Deere Strikers.

Each individual can receive up to $50.00 in groceries. No beer, alcohol, cigarettes and lotto tickets can be purchased

The Participating Fareway Location In Dubuque is at 2050 John F Kennedy Rd, Dubuque, IA 52002.

Their $3108 in funds presently as of November 5th. This amount will change daily at the Dubuque Location

Funds are being raised through a gofundme a account.
