PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — Residents across Grant County and southwest Wisconsin will have a chance Saturday, Oct. 24, to clear out medicine cabinets and dispose of unused or expired medications safely as Wisconsin observes Drug Take Back Day.
The statewide effort allows people to drop off unused and expired prescription and over-the-counter medications at 136 collection events and 239 participating law enforcement agencies. Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul is encouraging residents to take part, noting that proper disposal helps prevent medication misuse and keeps pharmaceuticals out of rivers and lakes. Information on collection sites is available through the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
Locally, two Grant County events are planned for Saturday. Elderfest at the Grant County Fairgrounds will accept medications from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and the Dickeyville Community Center will run a collection from 9 a.m. to noon.
