DUBUQUE, Iowa — Candidates for four Dubuque County offices met voters at a League of Women Voters of Dubuque candidate forum on Oct. 14, 2026, ahead of the Nov. 3, 2026 general election. The forum covered the races for County Attorney, County Recorder, County Supervisor, and County Treasurer. A recording of the forum is available for playback on the City of Dubuque Government YouTube channel.

One exchange that has been independently reported: candidates were asked about Amendment 1, the constitutional amendment on the Nov. 3 ballot that would require a two-thirds vote of the Iowa Legislature to raise income tax rates. Candidates split on it — some warned it would create long-term deficits, while others said it protects taxpayers, with several citing fiscal projections and potential effects on county services.

The races on the ballot

County Attorney: Incumbent Republican Scott J. Nelson faces Democrat Steve Drahozal.

County Recorder: Democrat Ann E. Sweeney, appointed recorder by the Board of Supervisors in August 2025, faces no-party candidate Michael Rabagia.

County Supervisor (vote for two): Incumbent Republican Wayne Kenniker, Republican Jason Davis, Democrat Kristin Dietzel, and Democrat Rick Dickinson are running for two at-large seats. Supervisor Ann McDonough is not seeking re-election.

County Treasurer: Incumbent Republican Michael Clasen is running unopposed for re-election.
