DUBUQUE, Iowa — A 68-year-old Dubuque man sustained serious injuries following a high-speed, single-vehicle crash on the Northwest Arterial late Monday morning.

According to the Dubuque Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 10:45 a.m. when Leonard Smith was driving northbound near Uphill Both Ways Road. Authorities stated that Smith was traveling at a high rate of speed when his vehicle left the roadway, crossed over the raised center divider into the southbound lanes, and rolled multiple times.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene, and Smith was transported to Finley Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Following the investigation, Smith was charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain control of his vehicle.
