
DUBUQUE COUNTY, Iowa — A collision between a car and a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) left two people dead and several others seriously injured Saturday night near Worthington, authorities said.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:21 p.m. Aug. 8 at the intersection of East Worthington Road and Comer Road, shortly after a Tracy Lawrence and Aaron Tippin concert in Worthington. Multiple emergency agencies responded, including the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office, Peosta Police Department, Cascade EMS, Dyersville Bi-County Ambulance, Farley Fire Department and EMS, Epworth Fire and EMS, and Worthington Fire Department.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Six others were taken to the hospital with serious to life-threatening injuries. One of those patients was later declared deceased at the hospital, bringing the death toll to two.
The accident remains under investigation. Names of the victims are being withheld until 10 p.m. Aug. 9 pending notification of family members.
