Case No. 01311 FECR164845 (Dubuque County)

DUBUQUE, Iowa — A 45-year-old Dubuque man was arrested early Thursday on a felony controlled substance violation charge.

David James Demoss, white male, age 45, was taken into custody at approximately 7:18 a.m. on Aug. 6, 2026, at the intersection of 299 West 8th Street and Locust Street in Dubuque. The arresting officer is listed as D. Brant of the Dubuque Police Department.

Court records show Demoss faces a felony controlled substance violation. A $50,000 cash bond has been set.

The case stems from a criminal complaint filed by the Dubuque Police Department on July 8, 2026 (docketed July 10). On July 15, Judge Mark T. Hostager ordered a warrant to issue, with a copy sent to the sheriff’s office.

On the day of his arrest, Demoss filed an application for court-appointed counsel and financial statement. An appearance was also entered by attorney Emily Elizabeth Chamberland.
