Dubuque, Iowa – July 13, 2026 — Anthony Thomas Drapeau, a 21-year-old man, was arrested Monday afternoon on a felony probation violation charge.
Drapeau was taken into custody at 3:23 p.m. at 770 Iowa Street for violating probation terms imposed in a prior felony case. The arrest stems from Case No. 01311 FECR155302 in Dubuque County.
In May 2024, Drapeau faced a Class D felony charge of eluding law enforcement under Iowa Code 321.279(2)(a) after driving more than 25 mph over the speed limit while fleeing officers. On October 28, 2024, Judge Thomas A. Bitter granted him a deferred judgment. The sentence included 24 months of probation supervised by the Department of Correctional Services and a civil penalty. Successful completion would have prevented a formal conviction.
Court records show Drapeau received notices of non-compliance in March 2025 and a notice to suspend in September 2025. On July 13, 2026, the DCS Dubuque office filed a probation revocation. Judge Michael J. Shubatt ordered a public bench warrant the same day, which was served at the Dubuque Law Enforcement Center.
The new arrest also involves related charges from July 12, 2026: assault causing bodily injury or mental illness (serious misdemeanor) and public intoxication (simple misdemeanor).
The probation violation case is now active, with revocation proceedings underway on the original eluding charge. Further updates will be available through Dubuque County court records.
