PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — A Grant County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrested a 26-year-old Platteville man on suspicion of operating while under the influence following a traffic stop on the evening of July 3, 2026.

According to the sheriff’s office, the deputy initiated the stop at approximately 9:57 p.m. on Highway 151 at Maple Ridge Road in the Township of Platteville after observing traffic violations. Upon contacting the driver, Joshua Shepler, 26, of Platteville, the deputy noted signs of impairment. Further investigation led to Shepler’s arrest for Operating While Under the Influence (OWI).

Shepler was also issued a citation for operating a vehicle with an expired registration.

Persons arrested or referred for charges by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. An arrest indicates only that probable cause exists to bring formal charges.

The names of any victims or witnesses have been withheld in accordance with Wisconsin Statute §950.04.
