Dubuque, Iowa — A 23-year-old Dubuque woman was arrested early Wednesday morning on a felony charge of participation in a riot, marking the latest development in an ongoing investigation into a large fight at Comiskey Park in May. 

Merrisses Mistique Pease, identified as a Black female, was taken into custody around 5:38 a.m. on July 1, 2026, at 770 Iowa Street — the location of the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office and Jail. The arrest number is AR 2026004152. Dubuque Police Officer L.C. Jones is listed in connection with the case. 

Court Proceedings and Timeline

Iowa court records detail the procedural steps leading to and following the arrest: 

•  June 25, 2026: The Dubuque Police Department filed the initial Criminal Complaint (D0001).

•  June 30, 2026: Judge Robert J. Richter issued an Order to Issue Warrant (D0002), with comments directing a copy to the Sheriff’s Office. An Arrest Warrant (D0003) was issued the same day.

•  July 1, 2026: The warrant was served by the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department (D0005). Pease also submitted an Application for Counsel/Financial Statement (D0004) on the same day, indicating she is seeking court-appointed legal representation.

These entries reflect a standard warrant-based arrest process following the filing of formal charges. Pease is expected to appear in court soon for arraignment and further proceedings related to the felony charge.

Connection to Comiskey Park Incident

Authorities have confirmed this arrest relates to a significant disturbance on May 15, 2026, at Comiskey Park (255 E. 24th Street), a popular North End recreational area featuring a playground, splash pad, basketball courts, skate park, and sports fields. The incident involved multiple adults and teenagers from Dubuque and nearby Maquoketa, Iowa, and was captured on city traffic cameras. 

Police have pursued several arrests over the following weeks:

•  Earlier arrests included Sharonda L. Alexander (41) on a riot participation warrant and Sherron G. Shumaker (34). 

•  On June 30, four women — Tamirrah D. Coffey (19), Damolia M. Luckett (24), Kaveona A.S. Young (20), and another — were arrested on similar charges following the playground-related fight. 

Pease’s arrest continues this series of warrants and in-custody actions tied to the same event. Court documents and police reports describe the disturbance as involving a group confrontation that escalated at the park’s playground area.
