Dubuque, Iowa – Andrew Amos Scotton, 39, was arrested Tuesday, May 12, 2026, on a charge of Temporary Custody Hold for the Department of Corrections (felony).

Officers took Scotton into custody at approximately 10:22 a.m. at 770 Iowa Street (Dubuque Law Enforcement Center). Dubuque officer K.S. Kauffmann made the arrest.

The hold stems from a probation violation. Scotton has been on probation since May 2022 after receiving a three-year suspended prison sentence for third-degree theft and unlawful possession of a prescription drug. Specific details of the current violation (such as failure to report, new charges, or drug test results) were not released in the public arrest bulletin.

Scotton remains in custody with no bond listed. He faces a prompt court appearance where a judge will determine whether to revoke probation and impose the original prison sentence.
