POTOSI, Wis. — Timothy P. Ravn, 63, of St. Paul, Minnesota, tragically lost his life following a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Saturday afternoon, May 9, 2026, in Potosi Township.
According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred at approximately 3:33 p.m. on Brouillard Hill Road, west of Old Potosi Road. Ravn was traveling westbound on his 2019 Harley-Davidson when, after cresting a hill, the motorcycle’s rear tire locked up. The bike slid on its side and came to rest on the south side of the roadway.
Ravn was wearing a full-face helmet and protective jacket. Despite the safety gear and the rapid response of local emergency services, he sustained serious, life-threatening injuries. Potosi EMS transported him to Grant Regional Hospital in Lancaster, where he was pronounced deceased. A University of Wisconsin Med Flight was en route but not needed for transport.
First responders from the Potosi Fire Department, Potosi EMS, Grant County Emergency Management, and Grant County Sheriff’s Office worked together at the scene. Arrow Towing assisted with recovery. The South St. Paul Police Department aided in notifying Ravn’s family.
This marks the third fatal traffic crash in Grant County in 2026.
A Quiet Rural Road Claims Another Life
Brouillard Hill Road winds through the scenic but hilly terrain of southwest Wisconsin’s driftless area. Such roads, while offering enjoyable rides for motorcyclists, can present sudden challenges with limited sight lines over hills and changing road surfaces.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the rear tire lockup and the exact cause of the crash.
Family and friends of Timothy Ravn are in the thoughts of the community during this difficult time. Motorcycle riding season is just beginning, and this loss serves as a solemn reminder of the inherent risks motorcyclists face, even when taking precautions.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office thanked all agencies involved for their coordinated response.
