ROCHELLE, IL — A high-stakes pursuit in rural Ogle County ended early Friday morning with the arrest of a 40-year-old Dubuque man facing a litany of felony and misdemeanor charges, including domestic battery and child endangerment.

The Incident

According to the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 2:19 AM on April 17, 2026, to a reported disturbance in the 11000 block of East Lincoln Lane in rural Rochelle.  

The situation quickly escalated as the suspect, identified as Christopher Escutia-Rangel, attempted to flee from law enforcement. The ensuing pursuit involved both Ogle County deputies and officers from the Rochelle Police Department. Following the investigation and the stop, authorities discovered that Escutia-Rangel was not only operating the vehicle under the influence but was doing so with a child present in the vehicle.  

Charges and Citations

Escutia-Rangel faces a comprehensive list of charges related to the incident and the preceding disturbance:  

• Violent Crimes: Domestic Battery  

• Child Safety: Endangering the Life, Health, or Safety of a Child  

• DUI Offenses: Aggravated DUI (Multiple Counts), DUI – Under the Influence of Alcohol  

• Traffic & Licensing: Driving While Driver’s License Revoked, Fleeing/Attempting to Elude a Peace Officer

• Interference: Resisting a Peace Officer

In addition to the criminal charges, Escutia-Rangel was issued several traffic citations, including:

• Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident  

• Improper Lane Usage  

• Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle  

Current Status

Following the arrest, Escutia-Rangel was transported to the Ogle County Jail. He is currently being detained pending a mandatory court appearance before a judge to determine bond and future proceedings.
