IOWA CITY, IA — The Iowa City Police Department remains on the scene and active in its investigation into a shooting that occurred in the downtown district in the early hours of Sunday, April 19, 2026.

Victim Status Update

Authorities have officially identified five victims resulting from the incident. As of Sunday afternoon, the medical status of those involved is as follows:

• One victim remains in critical condition at a local trauma center.

• Four victims are currently listed in stable condition.

Police representatives stated that no further identifying information, including names or ages, will be released at this time out of respect for the families and the integrity of the ongoing probe.

Investigation and Public Assistance

Detectives are working to piece together the events leading up to the gunfire. As part of this process, the Iowa City Police Department has released images of several persons of interest they believe may have information vital to the case.

Police are urging the public to take a close look at the images and come forward with any
