
DICKEYVILLE, Wis. — Alan Hensiak, 79, of Union Grove, Wisconsin, died on April 6, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City from complications of injuries sustained in a crash on March 27, 2026.
According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 10:07 p.m. on March 27, 2026, dispatch received a report of a possible multi-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 151 at Hill Climb Road near Dickeyville.
Deputies and first responders arrived and determined that Hensiak had been operating a 2012 Dodge Ram pickup truck on Hill Climb Road. While attempting to enter the northbound lanes of Highway 151, his vehicle struck a concrete barrier. After the truck came to rest, Hensiak exited the vehicle for an unknown reason and walked onto the highway.
At that time, Jeffrey Weigel, 66, of Platteville, Wisconsin, who was traveling northbound on Highway 151 in a 2016 GMC Yukon, struck Hensiak with the side mirror and quarter panel of his vehicle.
Hensiak sustained potentially life-threatening injuries. He was initially transported by ambulance to MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center (Mercy Medical in Dubuque) and later airlifted by medical helicopter to the University of Iowa Health Care in Iowa City for further treatment.
Weigel and his passengers were not injured.
The incident remains under investigation by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. No charges have been announced.
