DUBUQUE, Iowa — A jury convicted Tavon Baylock, 27, of Chicago, on January 20, 2026, in Dubuque County District Court. Judge Thomas A. Bitter presided. Baylock was found guilty of two counts of attempted murder and related charges from a June 23, 2022, shooting near Central Avenue and 23rd Street, close to a daycare. He fired multiple shots at two men in a vehicle, damaging property but causing no injuries.

Baylock fled Iowa after the incident. U.S. Marshals arrested him in Chicago on November 7, 2022, following a pursuit where he struck an officer’s vehicle.

The trial featured jury instructions and concluded with the criminal verdict on January 20, 2026. Sentencing is pending.
