Platteville, WI – A hit-and-run collision involving a semi-truck and a passenger car disrupted traffic on US Highway 151 near Platteville on October 29, 2025, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m. on the northbound lanes of USH 151, just near the exit for County Highway D in Platteville Township. According to authorities, Michael Ruehle, 50, of Dickeyville, was driving his 2012 Dodge Avenger in the right lane when a semi-truck, believed to be hauling a load of gravel, abruptly entered his lane and struck the front of his vehicle.

The semi-truck failed to stop at the scene and continued northbound toward Lafayette County, evading immediate identification. Ruehle escaped the crash without injuries, but his Dodge Avenger sustained disabling damage, rendering it inoperable.

Grant County Dispatch Center received the initial report, and a deputy responded promptly to the scene. No other vehicles or individuals were reported involved, and traffic was managed with assistance from Hinderman’s Auto Repair of Dickeyville, which helped with vehicle recovery and towing.

The semi-truck has not yet been located, and the Grant County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the hit-and-run. Officials are urging the public for assistance in identifying the fleeing vehicle or driver.

Anyone with information about the crash, including potential witnesses or dashcam footage, is asked to contact the Grant County Sheriff’s Office at 608-723-2157 or Grant County Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-789-6600.

The Sheriff’s Office emphasized the importance of road safety and encouraged drivers to remain vigilant, especially around large commercial vehicles. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
