Tennyson, WI – A routine traffic stop in the Village of Tennyson escalated into a foot pursuit late Halloween night when the driver fled the scene, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
On October 31, 2025, at approximately 10:15 p.m., a Grant County Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a white Chevrolet Silverado traveling along Highway 35/61 near Bunker Hill Street. The vehicle had been observed crossing the center line and swerving within its lane, prompting concerns of impaired driving.
The driver, later identified as Benjamin Fowler, 46, of Lancaster, exited the vehicle and fled on foot before deputies could make contact. Multiple Grant County Deputies, along with an officer from the Platteville Police Department, responded to assist in the search for the suspect.
Fowler was eventually located at Twisted Vines Pub and Eatery in nearby Potosi. Upon contact, he exhibited signs of impairment, leading to his arrest on charges of Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) – 5th offense, Bail Jumping, and Resisting or Obstructing an Officer.
Fowler was transported to the Grant County Jail, where he was booked on the aforementioned charges. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to the Platteville Police Department for their assistance during the incident.
Persons arrested or referred for charges by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. An arrest only indicates that probable cause exists to bring formal charges. The names of victims and witnesses to a crime have been withheld per Wisconsin Statute §950.0.
