A fire broke out in a detached garage at 751 Alta Vista Street in Dubuque late Thursday night, October 23, 2025, causing significant property damage but no injuries. The Dubuque Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call at 11:52 PM from a neighbor reporting smoke and flames emanating from the structure.

The Dubuque Fire Department responded swiftly, deploying Battalion 1, Truck 4, Medic 4, Engine 1, Engine 5, Truck 1, and Engine 2, with a total of 17 firefighters on scene. Firefighters had water on the fire by midnight and fully extinguished it shortly thereafter.

The fire caused an estimated $85,000 in property and content losses. Fortunately, no civilians or firefighters were injured, and the residents of the home were not displaced. The cause of the fire is under investigation but is not considered suspicious at this time.

The Dubuque Police Department provided assistance at the scene.
