SCALES MOUND, IL – On September 6, 2025, at approximately 5:30 PM, a motorcycle crash with injuries occurred on W Schapville Road, about one mile east of N Elizabeth Scales Mound Road in Scales Mound, Illinois, according to the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

The Jo Daviess Dispatch Center received a 9-1-1 call reporting the incident. Deputies arrived at the scene and determined that Nicholas R. Andrews, 32, of McHenry, Illinois, was operating a 2006 Harley Electra Glide eastbound on W Schapville Road with passenger Jamie A. Andrews, 25, of Johnsburg, Illinois. Authorities reported that Nicholas lost control of the motorcycle while attempting to navigate a left curve in the roadway.

The motorcycle veered off the road, entered a yard at 509 W Schapville Road, and overturned, ejecting both Nicholas and Jamie. The bike and its riders slid across a paved driveway before coming to a stop on the south side of the roadway.

Emergency responders from Elizabeth Ambulance transported both individuals to Mercy Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa. Jamie was later airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City for further treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed.

Following an investigation, Nicholas R. Andrews was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident and Operating a Vehicle with Suspended Registration. The investigation remains ongoing, and Nicholas is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Authorities urge drivers to exercise caution on rural roads and maintain appropriate speeds, especially when navigating curves. Updates on the investigation may be released as new information becomes available.
