Dubuque, IA – On Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 6:09 AM, the Dubuque Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a fire at 1695 N. Algona St. A neighbor alerted authorities to flames emanating from the back deck of a residence, prompting an immediate response from the Dubuque Fire Department.

Within 30 seconds of the call, the department dispatched a robust response team, including Battalion 1, Truck 4, Medic 4, Engine 1, Engine 5, Truck 1, and Engine 2, totaling 14 firefighters. Truck 4 and Medic 4 arrived on scene within three minutes, confirming an active fire on the back deck. Firefighters from Truck 4 promptly deployed and charged a fire hose, extinguishing the blaze within four minutes of their arrival.

The fire was confined to the back deck, which sustained extensive damage and is considered a total loss. Some exterior siding on the home was also melted due to the heat. No fire or smoke spread into the interior of the residence. Total estimated losses amount to $6,500. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Dubuque Police Department provided support at the scene. No injuries were reported among responders or residents.
