MUSCODA, Wis. — On August 7, 2025, at approximately 3:10 a.m., the Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a structure fire at 19052 Skyline Drive in the town of Muscoda. Emergency responders, including Muscoda Fire, Muscoda EMS, and deputies from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, were promptly dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, first responders encountered a shed fully engulfed in flames, with additional fire damage reported to the adjacent residence. Fortunately, all occupants of the home evacuated safely and sustained no injuries. The shed and its contents were deemed a total loss.

Due to suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident, the State Fire Marshal’s Office was called to assist with the investigation. During the course of the inquiry, Trevor Schoenmann, 38, of rural Muscoda, was arrested on charges of Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Damage to Property.

The arrest was supported by multiple agencies, including the Southwest Wisconsin Emergency Response Team, the Richland County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Muscoda EMS. Authorities have stated that the investigation into the fire remains ongoing.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office emphasizes that individuals arrested or referred for charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. An arrest indicates only that probable cause exists to bring formal charges. In accordance with Wisconsin Statute §950.04, the names of victims and witnesses have been withheld.
