DUBUQUE, Iowa — A 37-year-old Dubuque man was arrested Tuesday on charges of false imprisonment and domestic abuse assault, according to police records.

Jacob Robert Kane was taken into custody at 8:11 a.m. at 770 Iowa St. on charges of false imprisonment, a misdemeanor, and domestic abuse assault impeding air or blood flow causing bodily injury, a felony, Dubuque police said.

Court documents indicate an arrest warrant was issued for Kane on July 25, 2025, following a criminal complaint filed by the Dubuque Police Department. The warrant was served by the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Department on July 29, 2025.

Kane’s initial appearance hearing was scheduled for July 29, 2025, before Judge Mark T. Hostager, with a preliminary hearing set for August 7, 2025, at 10:50 a.m. A $7,500 cash bond was established. An order for discovery was also issued by Judge Kellyann M. Lekar on the same day.

Jonathan Michael Dunn entered an appearance on behalf of Kane, according to court records.

The case, docketed as 01311 FECR160679 in Dubuque County, remains under investigation, and no further details were released by authorities.
