DUBUQUE, IA – The Dubuque County Highway Department announced the completion of culvert work along Sundown Road, with the road fully reopened to traffic as of 5:00 PM on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. The construction project, which began on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 12:00 PM, involved critical maintenance along a 6.07-mile stretch of Sundown Road from E Pleasant Grove Road to U.S. Highway 151, as well as a segment of Higginsport Road from Stoffel Road to Fischer Road.

Despite the construction, Sundown Road remained open throughout the project, minimizing disruptions for local residents and commuters. The work focused on repairing and upgrading culverts to improve drainage and ensure the long-term integrity of the roadway. County officials confirmed that the project was completed on schedule, with no reported delays or significant traffic impacts.

The Dubuque County Highway Department thanked the public for their cooperation during the construction period and emphasized the importance of maintaining infrastructure to support safe and reliable travel. Motorists are advised that all construction barriers have been removed, and normal traffic flow has resumed along the affected routes.
