CLAYTON COUNTY, IA – Starting Monday, July 28, 2025, at 7:00 AM, Coffee Hill Road (also known as Coffee Road) will be closed for a bridge replacement project, according to the Clayton County Road Department. The closure will affect a 2.67-mile stretch from Tollgate Road/Avenue to Ridge Road, with the road fully closed at the bridge site for the duration of the work.

The project, managed by Clayton County’s contracted team, involves the removal and replacement of an aging bridge to enhance safety and structural integrity. The construction is expected to take 8 to 10 weeks, depending on weather conditions, with completion projected for late September or early October 2025. During this period, no through traffic will be permitted at the work zone, and motorists are advised to plan alternate routes.

The Clayton County Road Department emphasized the importance of the project to maintain safe infrastructure for residents and travelers. Detours will be clearly marked, and updates on the project’s progress will be available through the department’s website.
