LANCASTER, WI – A tragic incident occurred on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m. CDT, when the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a fatal UTV crash involving a juvenile on private property off Hurricane Rd in South Lancaster Township. The accident, identified as case CFS25-17917, has left the community in shock.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the juvenile, the sole occupant of a 2022 Kawasaki UTV, was engaged in farm chores when the vehicle veered out of control. The UTV subsequently rolled onto its side, ejecting the juvenile and pinning them beneath the wreckage. Tragically, the juvenile was not wearing any safety equipment at the time of the crash.

The Grant County Coroner pronounced the juvenile deceased at the scene. The Sheriff’s Office was supported by the Grant County Coroner’s Office, Lancaster EMS, Lancaster Fire Department, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources during the response and initial investigation.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will lead the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities have not released the identity of the juvenile, and further details are pending as the investigation continues.
