Dubuque, Iowa – July 10, 2025 – A 33-year-old women was apprehended on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, following a disturbance that involved the use of a handgun. Joslyn Jerisha Garrett was accused of assault while exhibiting a dangerous weapon and possessing a controlled substance (marijuana, first offense), both classified as misdemeanor offenses, as reported by the Dubuque police department.

The incident took place around 5:51 a.m. in the 700 block of West 8th Street, where police were called to address reports of a disturbance.

The authorities claim that Garrett directed a handgun at Davonte Derrell anderson, a 32-year-old man, during the confrontation. Anderson was named as the victim in the official police report. After the incident, Garrett was caught at 3:20 p.m. and taken to the Dubuque County Jail.
