DUBUQUE, Iowa – On July 4, 2025, at approximately 8:53 a.m., Dubuque police arrested 33-year-old Mariah Marie Gatena at 422 W Locust St. on charges of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, classified as a misdemeanor.

According to authorities, the incident occurred in the early morning hours of Independence Day. Gatena, a white female, was taken into custody by Officer S.J. Wehr following a report of an altercation involving the display of a dangerous weapon.
