An altercation outside a popular bar in the Village of Bagley led to the arrest of a 34-year-old Illinois man on June 29, 2025. At approximately 12:43 a.m., authorities from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Bagley First Responders, and West Grant EMS responded to a call about an individual in need of medical attention behind the Ship Wreck Bar in the River of Lakes section of the village.

Upon arrival, deputies gathered information and spoke to those involved. The victim was transported to Crossing Rivers Health Center in Prairie Du Chien and later transferred to Gundersen Medical Center in LaCrosse for further treatment.

As a result of the initial investigation, Jason Britton of Colona, IL, was taken into custody and booked into the Grant County Jail for one count of disorderly conduct. Britton posted bond and was later released.

The incident remains under investigation, and the Grant County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the altercation. Those with information are encouraged to contact the Grant County Sheriff’s Office at 608-723-2157.
