DUBUQUE, IA – An Extreme Heat Watch is in effect from Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening, June 21-22, 2025, across portions of northwest Illinois and east central, northeast, and southeast Iowa, including counties: Dubuque, Jackson, Clinton, and Scott in Iowa; and Jo Daviess, Carroll, and Whiteside in Illinois.

Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with heat index values possibly exceeding 105°F for multiple days, potentially into early next week. Nighttime lows may only drop to the mid to upper 70s, offering little relief. The risk of heat-related illnesses will rise significantly due to high humidity.

Residents are urged to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, avoid the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Stay updated as conditions may change.
