DUBUQUE, IA – On May 24, 2025, at 11:08 a.m., the Dubuque Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a boat fire at American Marine, 1630 E 16th St. The Dubuque Fire Department dispatched units at 11:09 a.m., including Battalion 1, Marine 1 (staffed by Engine 1), Engine 3, Engine 6, Truck 1, Truck 4, and Medic 1, with 15 firefighters responding.

Battalion 1 arrived within five minutes, establishing command and directing fire attack operations. Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames from a docked vessel. Crews launched an aggressive response, deploying hose lines and collaborating with marina staff to protect nearby vessels. The fire was contained to the original vessel and extinguished within 15 minutes of arrival. No injuries were reported.

The vessel sustained total loss, with minor damage to adjacent boats and the covered marina. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Dubuque Fire Department.
