
GALENA, Ill. — On May 17, 2025, at approximately 2:55 P.M., a single-vehicle motorcycle accident occurred on W. Council Hill Rd., half a mile east of N. Birkbeck Rd., in rural Galena, IL. The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call reporting the crash with injuries.
William J. Lambie, 36, of Augusta, WI, was driving the motorcycle with passenger Leatha M. Lambie, 43, also of Augusta, WI. According to the Sheriff’s Office, William lost control on a loose gravel shoulder, causing the motorcycle to tip and slide across the roadway. Both William and Leatha were ejected from the vehicle, which came to rest on the north side of the road.
William sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Midwest Medical Center before being airlifted by AirCare 3 to Iowa City for further treatment. Leatha was taken to Mercy Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests or charges have been reported.
The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is investigating, with assistance from the Galena Police Department, Galena Fire Department, Galena EMS, Hazel Green EMS, and AirCare 3. The investigation remains ongoing.
