SMELSER TOWNSHIP, WI – A two-vehicle collision on County Trunk Highway H near Model Road left one driver injured and shut down the road for three hours on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at approximately 6:22 AM, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

Nicholas F. Vosberg, 24, of Cuba City, was driving westbound in a 2001 Green Subaru Forester when he briefly looked away from the road. Vosberg told deputies that when he looked back, he had veered into the eastbound lane, colliding with a 2022 Ram 3500 driven by Daniel J. Jeager, 67, also of Cuba City. Vosberg’s vehicle ended up in a ditch, while Jeager’s came to a stop in the eastbound lane.

Vosberg was transported by Hazel Green EMS to Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque for treatment of injuries. Jeager was unharmed. Vosberg was cited for operating left of center.

CTH H was closed in both directions for three hours for cleanup. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene, though additional details on assisting agencies were not provided.
