Why I’m Running for Mayor of Dubuque

Today, I’m proud to share something deeply meaningful to me—I’m officially running to be the next Mayor of Dubuque.

This campaign isn’t about politics. It’s about people. It’s about us—the neighbors, families, business owners, and public servants who make Dubuque such a special place to call home.

I was born and raised in the North End, where my parents taught me the values of perseverance, family, and showing up for your community. After high school, I joined the U.S. Army and served in Special Operations with the 2nd Ranger Battalion. Over eight years, I deployed five times and led more than 500 direct-action missions. I came home with a Bronze Star Medal—and a deeper understanding of what it means to serve something bigger than yourself.

Now, I’m ready to serve again—this time, as your mayor.

Why? Because I believe Dubuque’s best days are ahead. I’ve seen this city rise to meet challenges and reinvent itself before—and I know we can do it again.

But it will take bold leadership, fresh energy, and the courage to lead differently. It will take someone who’s not afraid to face hard decisions, who listens before speaking, and who shows up for every neighborhood—not just a select few.

Our campaign is built around three core principles that I believe are essential to Dubuque’s future:

Public Safety & Emergency Response
    We must continue to support our police, fire, and EMS professionals with the tools and training they need to keep our families safe.Economic Development
    Dubuque should be a magnet for innovation and opportunity. I’ll work closely with the private sector to grow jobs, attract investment, and support businesses of all sizes.Fiscal Responsibility & Transparency
    Every dollar matters. As mayor, I will lead with honesty and accountability. You deserve to know exactly where your tax dollars are going—and how they’re helping our city move forward.

Over the last few months, I’ve met with people from every corner of our community. The support and encouragement I’ve received has been humbling—and it’s what convinced me that now is the time to step up.

This campaign is about working with you, for you. I’m here to listen, to serve, and to build a stronger Dubuque together.
