Platteville, WI – April 8, 2025
A single-engine airplane crash disrupted operations at the Platteville Municipal Airport this afternoon. The pilot, the sole occupant of the aircraft, survived the crash and was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical care by emergency medical services (EMS).

The crash occurred west of the runway, drawing an immediate and coordinated response from multiple local agencies, including Fire, EMS, Police, the County Sheriff’s Office, the County Highway Department, and Airport Management. Their swift actions ensured the site was secured and the injured party attended to without delay.

Robert Gates, Airport Commissioner, expressed gratitude that the pilot survived. “We are very thankful that the pilot was able to survive the crash, and our thoughts and prayers go out to them and their family,” Gates said. “We will be working closely with local authorities and the FAA to ensure a thorough investigation, and to address any necessary clean-up efforts. We will notify the public when the airport is clear and air traffic operations can safely resume.”

An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the crash. Authorities have assured the public that updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
