GALENA, IL – A tense situation that began on Tuesday morning culminated in the arrest of Enrique O. Silva, 53, on Wednesday evening, according to the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident began on April 2, 2025, at approximately 11:41 a.m., when deputies responded to a report of a Firearms Restraining Order Search Warrant at a residence on Settler Lane in the Galena Territory. Deputies also discovered that Silva had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
Upon arriving at the scene, a deputy observed Silva working on a vehicle. When the deputy attempted to make contact, Silva fled on foot, leading officers to believe he had entered his residence. Due to the presence of firearms within the home, deputies secured the perimeter and called for backup.

A lengthy standoff ensued, with Silva refusing to respond to attempts at communication, including phone calls, text messages, and the use of a public address system. The Northwest Illinois Critical Incident Response Team (NW IL CIRT) was activated, and numerous surrounding agencies provided assistance.
After hours of unsuccessful attempts to make contact, including the use of drones and a “drop phone,” assisting agencies were released from the scene early Wednesday morning. However, Jo Daviess County deputies remained on site.

The situation came to a close on Wednesday, April 3, 2025, at approximately 6:31 p.m., when Silva was recognized by an employee at the Eagle Ridge Country Store in the Galena Territory. Deputies responded, and Silva was apprehended after another brief attempt to flee on foot.

Silva was taken into custody and transported to Midwest Medical Center for precautionary medical evaluation. He was subsequently taken to the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
Silva was arrested on his two outstanding warrants and charged with resisting arrest and possession of a firearm without a valid FOID card.

The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office released a statement emphasizing that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation remains ongoing.
