Grant County, Wisconsin, experienced a two-vehicle crash on March 1, 2025, at 9:20 a.m. The Grant County Dispatch center received a call about the incident on Highway 151 at Clay Hollow Road in the Town of Paris.

Upon arrival, officers and a deputy found William Lansing, a 77-year-old resident of Hopkinton, Iowa, driving his 2013 Honda. Lansing was stopped at a stop sign on Clay Hollow Road when he attempted to turn south on Highway 151. However, as he crossed the northbound lanes, he noticed the “do not enter” sign and realized it was a crossover lane designed for southbound turns. Lansing promptly stopped in the lane of traffic.

Joan Kieler, a 61-year-old resident of Hazel Green, was traveling north in her 2020 Ford Ranger when she collided with Lansing’s vehicle due to his unexpected stop in the lane of traffic. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, but Kieler was taken to Southwest Health Center in Dickeyville for potential injuries.

The collision resulted in significant damage to both vehicles, which were subsequently removed from the scene by Rip’s Towing from Platteville and Guys Trucking from Kieler.

Lansing was issued a citation for stopping in an intersection. The Dickeyville Police Department, Dickeyville Fire Department, Dickeyville EMS, and the Grant County Highway Department assisted the Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
